If you are new to the idea of recreational vehicles, you might think motor homes, travel trailers, fifth wheels, and Airstream trailers are all the same. These terms are not all interchangeable. There are a lot of recreational vehicles for sale out there, and you should know the differences between them before you start shopping. You want to know exactly what you need and what you can expect to pay.

Have you heard of motor homes referred to as Class A, B, or C vehicles? Know what these designations mean before you express an interest in buying one class of vehicle over another. Otherwise, you could end up with an RV that does not adequately suit your needs. If the first thing a dealer shows you looks like a rockstar’s tour bus, you are probably looking at a Class A motor home. These are the most luxurious of all the RVs on the market, and they tout more amenities than some of the stateliest mansions. These vehicles are also referred to as luxury coaches, and they usually start at $100,000 and continue into the millions. This is the kind of motor home you want if you plan to be on the road for long periods of time. These coaches can sleep a lot of people, and they usually come equipped with all of the appliances you would expect to have in a normal house.

A Class C RV is the next smallest type of motor home that you could consider. These vehicles are the ones you see that look like they have a truck cab in the front. Then, the first part of the camper portion juts out over the top of the truck cab. There is usually a bed situated in this small area of the camper. The Class C models are usually priced starting at $60,000. The Class C option might be better for a couple that wants to travel by themselves. Almost everything could want is still included, but it is all housed in one room.

Finally, the Class B RV is the smallest of all the vehicle and sleep cabin combinations. They look a lot like extra tall vans, though some are longer than others. Airstream is a popular manufacturer for these kinds of models. They get the best mileage of all the different classes, and they still have a cooking area, a bathroom with a shower, and a lounge seating area that converts into a bed. These are great for couples that want to take maintain a regular house but still take extended road trips from time to time. You will never need a hotel room again if you own one of these.
